Fun Fashion Friday!

I know I only have 25 minutes left for Friday but I figured I'd still post for Fun Fashion Friday :) My fun fashion find for this week is Roosevelt Island. Located in the East River, Roosevelt Island is such a cool and fun find for NYC. I've lived here for the past 3 years and I absolutely love it! Check it out sometime! (via the F train going Queens bound, Roosevelt Island stop. Tram at 2nd Ave btwn 59th and 60th is under construction until August 31, 2010.)

Pretty in Lace: day & night!

I just finished my styling class Polyvore inspiration board for my final. I'm not a girlie girl but every woman can wear lace in some sort of way :) Actual off-figure photos to follow shortly.

Channeling my teenage years!

There are a few items in my jewelry box that I truly cherish. Earrings from my late aunt Kim, my Citizen's watch my dad got me for my 18th birthday, my engagement and wedding rings...and my "Evina" gold necklace! My grandmother bought me this great necklace way before I knew who Carrie Bradshaw was. Over the years I've had to have the chain replaced 2-3 times. I recently had the chain replaced completely for a thicker one. I'm so happy to have this necklace back in my rotation :)

Fun Fashion Friday!

I've decided to dedicate my Friday post to fun fashion finds! In honor of the up and coming Sex and The City sequel, I visited the Patricia Field's store recently. She has a great collection paying homage to artist Keith Haring. I picked up this cute over sized tee (one size fits all) and I love it! I think its such a fun top to dress up tucked into a black mini or dress down with skinny jeans and sneakers.

A City Romance "preview"...

Here's a little preview of some still life images for my styling class final. I think I like this styling thing, especially still life!!! The adorable skirt is from a great vintage shop The Sweet Ones that a friend of mine told me about (his friend owes it!). It's great for styling shoots because they have awesome rental rates and really cool finds. I LOVE the flower earrings I got from Top Shop in these images. Stay tuned for the finish product which is due on April 29th!

My new treasures!

Yesterday I finally checked out a few boutiques that I've been wanting to visit. Look at the fun goodies I got! I brought the ring (which I was surprised fit my tiny fingers) from OAK in NYC on Bond St. I got the beautiful cuff (which also was small enough for my skinny wrist) from Convent in NYC on Stanton and Clinton...such a cute place and the owner Travis was a sweetheart!

Fashion with a Purpose!

In the words of Ghandi, "Be the change that you want to see in the world". My friend Vernada is doing just that with her fashion brand with a purpose, Human Intonation. At a recent event, I was able to take photos of a couple of her t-shirts (percentage of sales go to charities). Please take the time to check out her site and support this awesome cause. I'm doing my part by spreading the word of the importance of safe sex every time! I'm also going to start wearing a red ribbon to show my support and always bring attention to this issue that is sadly ignored by many.

Gearing up for South Africa!

I'm starting to get my wardrobe together for my upcoming trip to South Africa for the World Cup! It's going to be winter there :( so I recently brought this plaid hoody from one of my favorite shopping spots, Uniqlo. Stay tuned for more photos as I prepare for my trip and while I'm there I plan to make updates to my blog!

Not your classic concert tee...

What is it about concert tees that make them so cool? I recently checked out The Ruse this past Friday night at Mercury Lounge in NYC. Other than picking up the new Ruse album, I picked up this really cool tee from Luna Halo who's touring with The Ruse along with Honor By August. My new favorite concert tee :)

More or less?

When are too many accessories too much? I happen to think that you can never have too much :) Recently I've been loading up enough necklaces to make Mr. T proud! What girl doesn't like to play dress up?! Whenever I start piling on the jewelry, it takes me back to a time when I would raid my mom's jewelry box and have a ball! Rings, bracelets, necklaces...you name! Sometimes it's fun to act like a kid again....and look really cool doing it!

Escape from New York

Like many New Yorkers this past weekend, my husband and I escaped the hustle and bustle of the city to visit family in Southern Pennsylvania. I always enjoy these weekend getaways to places with large backyards, porch swings, and picket fences. I pride myself on being a light packer so on these 1-2 day trips I have to make sure I pack only what's necessary. I think my hubby and I definitely got it right in our after church Sunday's best. Simple and easygoing layered outfits with a slight tailored look, love it :)

My Sunday Best

Since this weekend is Easter weekend for some I wanted to pay homage to the Easter dress. One of the elements I think of when I think of Easter Sundays when I was little was my Easter dress. The ensemble normally consisted of ruffles, lace, and satin bows (which would look pretty cool now-a-days!). Well this weekend I'll be wearing the above beauty of girlie ruffles that I scored at my recent Buffalo Exchange trip. I'm not a girlie girl but something about these pretty ruffles took me back to a time when I enjoyed running across a lawn in white patent leather shoes and lace ruffle socks looking for hidden eggs :)
Enjoy your weekend everyone!
