Fun Fashion Friday!
The two week countdown to South Africa begins TODAY!!! As you may know, I've been working on my World Cup wardrobe. Above is a cool vintage World Cup USA '94 hat I got last weekend in LES. I plan to debut the hat this weekend in Philadelphia during the USA vs. Turkey friendly soccer match. This hat will also be making the trip to South Africa! Have a great Memorial Day weekend everyone!

Fun Fashion Friday!
Can you tell that I can't wait to go to South Aftrica?! The other night I did a "test pack" of my new backpack to see how much I could fit in it. It's one of those silly things that I do when I'm anxious to go on a vacation. Since the backpack was packed, I figured I'd get the full look with my new rain jacket for the trip and my June issue of Vanity Fair with the stars of the World Cup...in their undies. I'm ready to go...JFK airport here I come!

Rainy Day Casualties
On rainy days like today in New York City, I'm reminded of two things: how hard it is to get a cab when it rains in the city and the many umbrellas I've lost to the nasty weather. My most recent casualty is the cute umbrella shown in the photo above. It was an adorable Marc by Marc Jacobs umbrella I just got for my birthday in January. I miss it so :(

Fun Fashion Friday!
One of my all-time favorite movies...Funny Face is a classic fashion movie that is definitely fun to watch. I never get tired of seeing Jo and Dick Avery dancing and singing around Paris! The costume design by Hubert de Givenchy and Edith Head is amazing! My favorite look is the black and white polka dot strapless gown with the deep aqua opera cloak and gloves...awesome!

The Military Shirt
Today I'm wearing a new men's top I got at a sample sale. I like it because of the military green and utilitarian vibe it gives with the snaps, pockets, and patches. I decided to belt it with this thick men's brown belt...me and all my menswear, lol!!!

Recent Sephora fix!
I haven't worn make-up for that long because as I've mentioned before, I was somewhat of a tomboy growing up. I really didn't get into make-up until college, but now I'm hooked and the culprit....Sephora. On my recent trip to Sephora, I snagged the Bare Essentials Buxom mascara which I absolutely LOVE! I was also able to find my coveted #4 YSL concealer (for some reason the #4 shade is hard to come by). You have to love a successful Sephora trip :)
Nordstrom Rack in NYC
Nordstrom now has a NYC location...well not exactly :) The new Nordstrom Rack opened in Union Square yesterday and I'm happy. I ventured in to check it out and I was very pleased. The shoe and accessories sections had designers like Betsy Johnson, L.A.M.B, and Marc by Marc Jacobs. The only thing that confused me was the entire store was downstairs. The street level of the old Virgin Records Megastore still had covered windows. Maybe this means they'll be another opening later this summer??? Needless to say, the downstairs portion is still definitely worth checking out.

Wishing for warmer weather...
With the recent arctic chill we've been getting here in NYC, it makes we wish to be in warmer climates. I started looking through some old pictures on Picasa and came across the album from my 2009 Barbados vacation. I love the polka dot alice+olivia one piece bathing suit I took on this trip. Hopefully it will be warm enough by Memorial Day weekend to wear it again :) Stay warm my friends!

Like mother, like daughter!
In honor of Mother's Day this weekend, I want to dedicate this weekend's post to my mommy! I love my mom and she is one of my style icons. Since I was little, I've always loved my mom's style and her awesome confidence to wear the coolest accessories (including wigs: see above photos). And her ability to brighten any room wearing her signature favorite color: orange. As I get older I'm so happy that I'm inheriting her flare and confidence and I hope that someday I can be a cool mommy and best friend to my daughters just like she is to me and my sisters! Happy Mother's Day Lady!
